Sweep

2018

Perched in the rocks of Beaumaris beach, Sweep 1 translated wave energy into a mechanism for drawing on the sand. Natural floats of the sea weed caught the movement of the waves. This was tethered to a stick on a pivot with a grass broom on the other end, which arced gently across the sand. An ephemeral work which existed for the brief moment allowed by the tide.

Materials: Eucalyptus branches, grass, vine, seaweed, rubber bands
